"Pull, Vince! Pull! Don't stop!"
Vinny was tied to an old tire, the rusty chain rope tightly wound around his neck. Every muscle in his body clenched in stress and pain as he dragged the tire through the dirt road of Stone's Industrial park. He grimaced and groaned, but his trainer, Norm, was on him like stank on shit.
"Don't give up, Vinny! You're almost there!"
He could feel Leonardo up in a stand, watching him. His godfather had put him into this kind of training the very minute he was adopted. Exercise after exercise, training day after training day. The result was beautiful. Vinny was buff and cut, unlike any other of his kind in the neighborhood. It was incredibly obvious that he did extra training, and many stayed away from him because of it. Maybe that's why Leonardo did it?
When Vinny reached the end of the line, he got out of the gear with the help of his trainer, and dove into the ice bath--which was nothing more than an ice chest full of soda pop. He stayed inside until the humans drove him away, and met back up with Leonardo, while the others were helping him to dry off.
"How much does he weigh now?" Leo asked the trainer in concern. Vinny sat there like a young kid, waiting for the doctor to tell his parent what was going on with him.
"Almost 90 lbs, Leo. You're lucky this guy isn't purebred, because he wouldn't get past 70. Great job today kid."
"You made me very proud today, Vincenzo. Keep up the good work."
*******
Vinny woke up.
He was in a parking garage. He groaned and stretched. Apparently, he had done nothing except dream about this morning. He must have been sleeping here all day. He'd better head home.
