All must pay for their sins.
Crowley, a rival gangster, moved a three man scouting party through Mancini territory. No matter how justified he deemed his actions, they meant nothing to the Mancini Family due to his initial offense of premeditated trespassing. As a result, Guido, the groundskeeper, had been severely injured. His family demanded justice--hell even the humans, as ignorant as they were about the matter, swore to find and punish whoever had done this to their beloved dog. As Don, Leonardo was obligated to get it for them.
Ever since Leonardo became prominent three or four years ago, he had acted as a mediator or a judge to settle disputes amongst the neighborhood. Family feuds, restraining orders, punishment...all had found their way onto Mancini's doorstep, and he had to give an audience to all who wanted to speak with him. After all, most of them saw him as a community leader. Had he a consiglieri, he would have a much easier time passing judgement or settling problems. But so far he had no on but himself.
He had been greatly insulted by the recent events previously described; Crowley's audacity was nearly intolerable by the rest of his men. They all loved Guido and knew him as a spectacular fighter and loyal Mancini. They swore to kill Crowley, but Leo forbade it. He forbade any interaction of the sort with him, until Crowley came to speak with him. He had to send out the invitation--another minor annoyance. As one of his Capos rightfully argued, Crowley should have come to him immediately with the problem and presented his case, along with a valid explanation as to what he was doing there and of course an apology for what happened to Guido. But Leo was patient as ever. He had just enough left to speak with Crowley and hear his side of the story, and then pass his judgement. He sat in his office, waiting for him.
************
Vinny sat just outside the office. He had been given orders to let no one in except Crowley. God he wanted nothing else other than to dive on that bulldog...but he had an unsettling bloodlust for the Doberman. It would be nothing for him to wrap his jaws around that thug's throat and just squeeze--
He snapped out of it. He had a job to do.
