"Dogcatcher, ha! More like a butterfly catcher," Adeline said to herself with her British accent as she trotted down the sidewalk away from her old house. She had just left her home for good, leaving behind her human family that had decided to forget her. She had only made it a little ways away from her home- No, it's not her home anymore, she had only made it a little ways away from the Halbrook residence when a dogcatcher had attempted to capture her. Using her wits, Adeline had easily lost the dogcatcher. She laughed a clear, musical laugh as she thought about the rotund human picking himself up out of the small goldfish pond that she'd left him in.
Adeline's mood turned sour as she remembered why she had left her beloved human family. A family member is no longer a part of the family when they are forgotten. She had become a burden to them instead of a friend, and because of that, she had left. A scowl worked its way onto Adeline's face as she remembered with bitter anger how she had once been an important part of the Halbrook family, and how they had completely disregarded her for the past few days in their business.
Adeline's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of heavy, squishing, footsteps. Temporarily distracted from her memories, she smiled as she pretended not to hear the sopping wet dogcatcher. Deciding to make the round human meet humiliation yet again, she nonchalantly slipped her gracefully slim form in between the bars of a metal fence. Any human with common sense would have gone over the fence or around to the gate, but not the dogcatcher. The 'not so jolly' fat man ended up with his head and shoulders stuck in the fence. Happy with her work, Adeline turned around and sat down so that she could comfortably watch the dogcatcher struggle.
